Danny
Before joining Message I had been dying to get into the web developing industry for years. My first website was built on Geocities for a wrestling roleplaying company. Needless to say it was awful, but being 12 or 13 at the time, it was a massive personal achievement… if still slightly embarrassing!
A few years down the line, with a couple of sales jobs under my belt and a year of backpacking out of my system, I returned to my real ambition of becoming a web developer. Living in Hastings (a town with no web industry) and with no relevant work experience meant there were very few opportunities to pursue this far-away dream. So I decided to start up my own business to build up a portfolio and get some real life experience under my belt.
After nine grueling months being self employed, and with a handful of websites under my belt and on my portfolio, I decided the time was right to get out and get on the career ladder.
Luckily for me, Message happened to be looking for an Assistant Developer at the same time. After one interview, an informal chat, and a lot of sleepless nights Lynda phoned me up and offered me the position. After doing a few cartwheels and restraining myself from biting off her arm, I gratefully (and I like to think graciously) accepted the offer.
